Synopsis "I Likes To Talk"
"I likes to do fer a man. An' I must say I kinda likes the menfolks, despite all their unfortunate faults of design." So declares irrepressible Myrtle Flowers after arriving uninvited, one cold January afternoon, in the Iowa farm kitchen of shy widower Abner Holmes. "I Likes To Talk" covers a year in the life of Myrtle Flowers, a 78-year-old divorced farm wife, all from her ribald, fun-loving, and colloquial point of view. She tells it as she lives it! Myrtle, with her white hair and baby-blue rhinestone cat's-eye spectacles, has her own irreverent spark and unconventional spunk. In January, Myrtle goes to keep house for farmer Abner, turning his quiet life upside-down. Through the year, Myrtle talks her way through good times and tragedies, endearing herself to friends and acquaintances with her humor and generosity. As Abner and his bachelor son Dennis soon learn, Myrtle is a force of nature!
