ieee 802 wireless systems: protocols, multi-hop mesh/relaying, performance and spectrum coexistence - bernhard h. walke, stefan mangold, lars berlemann
this work collates state-of-the-art information on ieee 802 wireless systems which is intended to provide the necessary theoretical foundation for performance evaluation. such a comprehensive comparative treatment of all the key standards has not previously been attempted and this is therefore a valuable resource. the authors focus on the subject of radio regulation and an examination of the existing problems of unlicensed regulation approach (co-existence and quality of service), as well as the issue of command-and-control licensing approach for radio regulation (cost of licenses and inefficiency of spectrum usage). other hot topics that are explored in depth are traffic modeling and event-driven stochastic simulation. the code of the simulation model is included with an accompanying website that allows readers access to a more in depth analysis of wireless standards.
