People are forced into street vending due to various factors. First and foremost street vending is a source of livelihood for the urban poor and those who couldn't be absorbed into the formal sectors of the economy. Zimbabwe is facing a plethora of economic challenges and under such a precarious state of affairs street vending activities are on the rise. The book brings to the fore the multifarious challenges faced by regulatory authorities in handling the phenomenon. It further explores the challenges encountered by the street entrepreneurs in their quest to earn a living. Possible solutions which can be adopted by the civic authorities have been suggested with the basic aim of finding common ground between the parties. Practical solutions from the War Wick Junction in South Africa where a multiple stakeholder approach was adopted were also cited as the panacea to the vending menace in the CBD of Bulawayo.
