Synopsis "In Art: The Pilgrims"
Several years and dozens of books into our "In Art" series we occasionally come up with a new variation on our theme. The first many books followed a particular topic (including hats, horses, and hay) through paintings of many centuries. Those were followed by several books that each focused on a particular artist (including Leonardo da Vinci and Vincent van Gogh). And now, more recently we have combined a more historic angle with great art (beginning with one focused on the history of the U.S. Military and now, finally, the Pilgrims). In some ways the focus is still the same - appreciating great art from a new angle. But with our historic books we aim to show a stronger connection between art and history. So, please come along and join us on an artistic look at the "non-conformists" who have come down to us in history as "The Pilgrims." In addition to dozens of paintings and maps you will find a variety of quotes connected to the Pilgrims from numerous places - including William Bradford's diary of their early years, Of Plymouth Plantation.
