Synopsis "In the Crucible of History: The Journal of Rev Jacob H Janzen"
In 1912 it seemed that Jacob Janzen was on top of the world. His family owned and operated a brewery and he was about to become betrothed to a woman he loved. They lived in the Mennonite colony Chortitza in southeastern Russia. That area is close to the modern city of Zaporizhzhia in the country of Ukraine.Unfortunately, the First World War would soon begin, to be swiftly followed by the Russian Revolution and civil war. Those were not the only challenges that they would face. This is the story of how they met and dealt with hardships beyond our experience.
