Das Volk der Odzukru, das im Süden von Côte d'Ivoire am Nordwestufer der Lagune von Ebrié ansässig ist, wurde zwischen dem 16. und 18. Nach der Gründung des Volkes führten die Odzukru im 18. Jahrhundert Initiationsriten ein, um ihre Jugend zu erziehen und auszubilden. Es handelte sich um den "Low" für Jungen und den "Dédiakp" für Mädchen. Die Ausbildung im politischen und gesellschaftlichen Leben wurde mit der Einführung der Riten der "Eb-Eb" oder Krönung von Herrschern und der "Agbadzi" im 19. Jahrhundert auf Erwachsene ausgedehnt.
