Jesus' Bar Mitzvah continues the adventures of Joey and Kristie. They're two young neighbors from different religious backgrounds. Story #4 introduces the duo to a new friend named Juan, who practices another religion. Joey is preparing for his upcoming Bar Mitzvah, and after explaining the purpose of the celebration, the children question if young Jesus had a Bar Mitzvah as well. This time Juan's priest, Father Ray, helps the children find the answer within the Bible. Did young Jesus celebrate his 13th birthday with a Bar Mitzvah? What is a Bar Mitzvah? How can friends that practice different religions learn from one another? All is answered in this fun and informative tale of friendship and exploration. The goal of the Jewish Christian Discovery Center (JCDC) is to reduce prejudice and anti-Jewish thoughts by educating Christians and Jews about their shared religious traditions. Our aim is the realization that we are all "spiritual siblings" connected by the Bible, shared history, and, most significantly, through our expressions of faith. The biblical message of "love your neighbor as yourself" is our primary message.
