Synopsis "Journey Of The Doll Cradle"
What if you were left behind...and passed from place to place? That's what happened to me! As a doll cradle, I was very happy holding dolls. But then my friend Cassie forgot to pack me when she moved and I got left behind. I moved to several different homes, which wasn't easy. In fact, it was sometimes scary, confusing, and lonely. But during those hard times, I discovered some things about the big world, and better yet, about me. Because of all the different places I lived, I found out I can do more than hold dolls. I can do many things! Come along with me and I'll tell you my story. Written cleverly in first person, this is the story of a doll cradle who is content holding dolls and living a comfortable life with Cassie. That changes when Cassie's family packs for a move and forgets the cradle. This sends the cradle into a cycle of change accompanied by emotions that come with unexpected and unwelcome transitions: fear, grief, uncertainty, and insecurity, interspersed with moments of fascination and wonder in a world much bigger than it realizes. One day the cradle gets to meet the man who made it many years before. What a delightful discovery to be recognized and affirmed. Through the man's words of acknowledgement and encouragement, the cradle reflects on what it has endured and learned along the way. Despite difficult experiences, the cradle thrives, resulting in a new self-respect, confidence, and a resolve to carry its own unique destiny.
