Synopsis "L. T. Hobhouse - his Life and Work With Selected Essays and Articles - With an Excerpt From the Economic Philosophies, 1941 by Ratish Mohan Agrawala"
First published in 1931, "L. T. Hobhouse - His Life and Work with Selected Essays and Articles" is a 1931 biography of L. T. Hobhouse by J. A. Hobson and Morris Ginsberg. Leonard Trelawny Hobhouse (1864-1929) was a British sociologist and liberal political theorist. A leader and early proponent of social liberalism, his works culminated in his famous book "Liberalism" (1911). An insightful memoir including some of Hobhouse's most notable writings not to be missed for those with an interest in social liberalism or British politics in general. Contents include: "School and College Days", "Manchester and Early London Life", "The 'Tribune' and After", "General Reflections", "Other Aspects of his Life", etc. John Atkinson Hobson (1858-1940) was an English social scientist and economist most famous for his writing on imperialism-which notably influenced Vladimir Lenin-as well as his theory of underconsumption. His early work also questioned the classical theory of rent and predicted the Neoclassical "marginal productivity" theory of distribution. This classic work is being republished now in a new edition complete with an excerpt from Agrawala's "The Economic Philosophies" (1941).
