Such was the case of Salt Peter and her skipper for the duration of a year in the Pacific. Originally pursuing a circumnavigation, the journey took the author and his vessel on a seven thousand mile voyage to Hawaii, Tonga, Fiji and finally to New Caledonia, where Salt Peter met her end.
