Synopsis "Liver Cirrhosis of Hdv Etiology"

Liver cirrhosis (LC) occupies a significant place in the structure of digestive diseases, remaining an extremely urgent socio-economic and clinical and epidemiological problem of public health in all countries of the world. LC is the final stage of chronic liver diseases and is characterized by its lobular structure disorder, as a result of fibrosis progression with formation of pathological regenerative nodules. The necessity to study the peculiarities of LC course is caused by the development of severe complications and high frequency of patients' disablement. The monograph is devoted to the theoretical bases, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, modern methods of diagnostics of HBV and HDV etiology liver cirrhosis. The monograph presents achievements in HBV and HDV etiology liver cirrhosis, risk assessment of chronic viral hepatitis B and D progression to cirrhosis with regard to IL28B genetic polymorphism, and also presents materials based on our own scientific research. The authors hope that the monograph will contribute to the early detection of liver cirrhosis of HDV etiology and will be useful for infectious disease specialists, gastroenterologists, general practitioners, clinical residents and undergraduates.
