Synopsis "Living conditions of street children in Bamako and Mopti"
The purpose of this book is to share some of the results of our research into the experiences of street children. These children are considered by society to be wretched and outcasts, hence the name "street children" or "street youth". We asked ourselves the following questions: What has happened to culture and the family? How can conditions such as those of street children be explained within a collective culture? Culture and the family generally shape the experience of every street child. What about the street children of Bamako and Mopti? First of all, we will briefly review the theoretical and methodological framework adopted, and then analyse the possible links between contextual and individual factors and the collective and individual difficulties encountered by street children. We will also analyse the various strategies they have developed to survive (or not) on the street. The book ends with a discussion. The interviews were conducted in 2018 in the district of Bamako and the town of Mopti.
