After thirty-six hours of labor, the head of a beautiful baby girl crowned the womb of her mother and entered the world, weighing six pounds, four ounces. Sixteen months later, water broke, the call was made, and I was speeding on my way to the hospital. With no epidural and one final, grueling grunt, out came a miracle...at one something in the morning, making his debut into the world was My Handsome. This is how most mothers' stories began, but not mine. Though I was there and every account mostly true, the story of how I became a virgin-mother of not just one but TWO children, starts a lot differently. Memoirs of a Virgin, Black Mother is a moving depiction of one woman's journey from independent, single woman to single parent caring for two foster children. Embark upon their journey. Miss Mahalia Watson, MA, a native of Greenville, MS, is a graduate of Oral Roberts University. She began her career as a therapist to abused foster children, and is now an author, motivational speaker, recording artist, ordained evangelist, and founder of the much-acclaimed Anti-F.I.S.T. Project. Henry Kleckley is a graduate of Oral Roberts University. He has been a youth pastor for 12 years, and a school teacher, mentor, and counselor in public education for 11 years. Kleckley is also a contributing author to the book, A Matter of Life and Death. He has been married to his wife, Tyisha, for ten years, and together they have two children, Alayna and Austin.
