Synopsis "Merlin: The Shaman of Stonehenge"
A magical shamanic tale inspired by the skeleton which supported the body of a man living 1,000 before Stonehenge was built. He now resides in the Stonehenge Visitors Centre. The Shaman, Merlin, is reincarnated at crucial times in the raising of stones and legend at Stonehenge. Part 1 - Hewll Myrlyn is drawn along the subtle energies of the land to the pre- Stonehenge landscape. He tells the story of the land through versions of world creation myths that may have been handed down millennia in oral tradition. He raises the Heel Stone. Part 2 - retells the story of Merlin, the legendary builder of Stonehenge, placing him in prehistory and weaving his legend with the archaeology of bringing and raising the bluestones at Stonehenge.Part 3 - places the roots of Arthurian legend in prehistory to tell the story of raising the sarsen stones at Stonehenge. Part 4 - Queen Eleanor of Provence lived her last years at Amesbury Abbey, close to Stonehenge, at a time when Arthurian legend was the most popular secular fiction and a courtly ideal. Part 5 - Merlyn is reincarnated to return to Stonehenge in the not so distant future. Each incarnation gives different versions of his name, to demonstrate the different times he lives in.
