Brooke Sunter's life is collapsing around her. Until recently a teller at the local credit union, a botched robbery sees her taken hostage, beaten, shot, and finally mistaken for the criminal. Unemployed and thrown out of her apartment, Brooke winds up sleeping on the couch of her neighbors Patty and Ben-an arrangement that doesn't sit well with the jealous Patty. Trying to get back on her feet, Brooke takes a job at the local nutrition shop, run by Mike Gwenlynski. Mike has a reputation for being the town's go-to guy for nutritional advice. Things seem to calm down for Brooke-until she starts finding body parts. Somewhere out there, a serial killer sees the town as his own personal killing field and smorgasbord. It's apparent to even the unimaginative local law enforcement they've got a cannibal on their hands, but who is it? The disappearance and then partially chewed reappearance of Patty make Brooke a prime suspect. And as the body count mounts, all evidence points to Brooke Sunter. Brooke must prove she's not a killer and that her dietary requirements run along less cannibalistic lines than circumstances suggest. Otherwise, she'll be back in prison-or on a plate.
