Synopsis "Miss Muffet Frightens the Spider"
Miss Muffet-At the tender age of fourteen, Hannah Foxworth is secretly smitten with her brother's best friend, Spider Mahoney. When he threatens to leave town, she persuades, him up into an apple tree and confesses her love to him. Sadly her declaration is rejected, and she vows never to love another. Jump ahead ten years, Hannah is about to break her adolescent vow when a handsome, big city lawyer asks for her hand in marriage. However, before she can make another vow to never love another, she must first make sure her original vow was only a silly adolescent wish. The Spider-Spider Mahoney is a well sought after agent with the Pinkertons. Making top dollar, he has everything going for him, including a gorgeous wife who looks magnificent on his arm, and a baby on the way. Life can't get much better. Unfortunately, it can get worse...much worse when suddenly his life take a dramatic turn. Soon he finds himself a lonely widower trying to care for his motherless child as he struggles to make a living. Life can't get much worse or so he thinks until a letter from home arrives. Hoping to escape his woos, he turns to a bottle. The Trap-Waking up from a drunken stupor, Spider finds his best friend's sister in bed with him, whispering sweet nothings in his ear. He begins to scolds her for being there, when suddenly she shoves a dad-gum marriage certificate in front of his blood shot eyes, claiming they are married. Married? They can't be married. You'd think he'd remember something as significant as marrying Miss Muffet. Besides, isn't she supposed to be engaged to some big shot lawyer? Finally Hannah comes clean and admits it is all just a ruse to teach him a lesson. The only question is...why isn't he relieved? He really should be relieved. Okay, so maybe that's not the question. Maybe the question should be...how can he win her back before she marries the wrong man?
