Synopsis "Mohamed's Dream: Overcoming tragedy and cover up from West Afrcia to the Midwest"
In 2013, two children from Muslim African families on a school field trip were killed in a landslide in a Saint Paul, MN park. Officials tried to call it an act of nature and quietly end public scrutiny while reaching a legal settlement. But subsequent investigation by the author would find that city actions likely triggered the tragedy.Meanwhile, the parents of one deceased child discovered a scrapbook of their son, Mohamed, that would direct them how to use the city payout. In his honor, and with help from his teachers and other community members, they are constructing a school and health programs in West Africa to help other youth and fulfill Mohamed's Dream.Jon Kerr is a longtime journalist and writer who also happened to be a community leader, historian and environmental advocate for Lilydale Park where the landslide occurred. He has become close with Mohamed's family and is now part of the Dream, along with others engaged in an effort crossing cultures and oceans.
