Synopsis "NEMESIS In Pursuit of Justice: Isabella, wife of Robert de Bellême. Her battle for survival against overwhelming odds."
It is the year 1082, a baby girl survives by being brutally cut out from her mother's womb. She is baptised Isabella, a bastard daughter of Prince Henry, youngest son of William the Conqueror. Brought up and groomed at Henry's court, she is famed for her beauty and intelligence. She is used by her father in his rapacious ambition to become King of England. At the age of twelve, Isabella is sent by him on a mission to seduce and murder his enemy Robert de Bellême. The plot fails. She betrays her father, defying him by falling in love and secretly marrying Robert. On hearing of her husband's arrest and imprisonment by her father, now Henry 1st King of England, she flees Normandy to rebuild her life in Burgundy. She continually strives for her husband's release in the face of her father's twisted, insane vengeance, brought about by his growing fear of the threat to his crown, through the conjoined bloodline of Isabella and Robert de Bellême. Terrified for her own safety and Henry's attempts to murder her children, Isabella responds with little more than primitive instinct, retreating ever deeper into the wilderness of assassin, planning her own particular brand of retribution.
