Synopsis "Night Witch Assassin"
This is a murder mystery novel set 1989 in Shijiazhuang north China, the year of the June 4th incident in Tian-a-Men Square and centres on the miserable life of Nie Jin-Mei the divorced wife of the local police chief Bo-Cheng. Her life changes when she meets Jason Lamont a head teacher from her local language school with whom she envisages a better life. Her life is then turned upside down when she is raped by her ex-husbands four police department colleagues on Bo-Cheng's orders. The consequences of the rape are far reaching as Jason goes on the run for assaulting Bo-Cheng. Jin-Mei is then taken in by a Dr Jenna a lesbian colleague at the hospital where they both she and Jin-Mei work. One of the rapists, Fei-Liao is brutally murdered and a suicide ensues. Bo-Cheng is then mutilated in his hospital bed and his guard Pang is murdered as he slept. The police search for Jason who evades capture with help from Douglas an old colleague and so the finger of suspicion then moves to others in the complex puzzle.
