Synopsis "Novel 4-Oxoazetidin Amino Benzothiazoles-Synthesis and Evaluation"
A series of 2-[(3-chloro-2-oxo-4-phenylazetidin-1-yl)amino]-N-(6-fluoro-1,3- benzothiazol-2-yl)acetamide were prepared by the action of N-(6-fluoro-1,3- benzothiazol-2-yl)-2-hydrazinylacetamide with aromatic aldehydes (S6 a-j) in the presence of catalytic amount of glacial acetic acid. Thus the prepared N-(6-fluoro-1,3- benzothiazol-2-yl)-2-hydrazinylacetamide were subjected to oxidative cyclization using Et3N in dioxane, ClCH2COCl to form the respective 2-[(3-chloro-2-oxo-4- phenylazetidin-1-yl)amino]-N-(6-fluoro-1,3-benzothiazol-2-yl)acetamide. The structures of synthesized compounds have been established on the bases of their elemental analyses and spectral (IR, 1HNMR and Mass) data. Further, they have been screened for their antimicrobial, antifungal, antiinflammatory (in vitro and in vivo) and analgesic activities by standard method. The result of the activities reveals that, compounds exhibited moderate to good anti-microbial and anti-fungal activities, also exhibited significant anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities.
