Synopsis "Oddities: Three Plays"

ODDITIES (TWO PLAYS) TWISTED follows Alice (of Alice in Wonderland fame) on a surrealistic and violent journey to discover the meaning of the Jabberwocky poem. HÄNSUNDGRET is a Black Comedy revision of the classic Grimm folktale "Hansel and Gretel." This Opera Sauvage is deviously performed by Dr. Daddy Longlegs' traveling troupe of Carnival Freak Show entertainers. CREPE PAPER ASHTRAY explores the sickness of obsessive love in this play that gives a generous nod to David Lynch. Gekko and Betty live in squalor in an alternative reality where memories are erased, and sexual mania is controlled through therapy and the use of behavioral modification drugs. Betty is so obsessed with Gekko that she has begun to deteriorate and seeks to have his memory erased from her mind so that she can live in peace. Gekko loves Betty, but he is driven by sexual addiction and the "high" he gets from being loved by others. By the time these two get it together, it's too late.
