Synopsis "Out of the Darkness, Into the Lightning: Monk Gibson's Story"
Around noon on Thursday, September 28, 1905, Monk Gibson, a small black boy who had been hired to plow a field on the Conditt farm near Edna, Texas, ran to neighbors and excitedly told them that there was trouble at his employer's house. Upon investigation, a young white mother and four of her children were found brutally murdered. The blame was immediately placed on the young black boy who had first spread the alarm. Was he guilty of murder?
