Synopsis "Oxidative Stress and Diabetes Mellitus"
Oxidative stress is a syndrome resulting from an imbalance between the antioxidant defense systems and the production of free radicals. It is a profound imbalance in the balance between pro-oxidants and antioxidants that leads to irreversible cellular damage. Diabetes is a public health problem, its prevalence is increasing year after year, the WHO predicts an increase of about 622 million cases worldwide by 2040. In Africa and in the DRC, this prevalence has gone from almost zero 40 years ago to about 7% in Kinshasa. Recent studies indicate that diabetes is accompanied by oxidative stress, a stress that may be involved in the occurrence of microangiopathic complications of diabetes. γ-GT, UA, SGOT, and SGPT were measured. The activity of γ-GT, the level of UA to increase and liver enzymes also for which case. It is possible to establish a link between oxidative stress and their diabetes. The study provides additional information on diabetes and its management. The prevention of oxidative stress is an essential point in the management of diabetic patients.
