O Rio Iguaçu é um patrimônio público relevante quanto aos aspectos sociais, históricos, econômicos e ambientais para os municípios de União da Vitória (PR) e Porto União (SC). Buscou-se evidenciar essas características sobre o Rio Iguaçu, através de percepções socioambientais e representações sociais de crianças do 5º anos do Ensino Fundamental residentes no meio urbano desses dois municípios. Pode-se, conhecer as percepções ambientais que essas crianças possuem em relação as águas desse rio. Decorrente das expressões das crianças, retrataram que muito pouco é estudado no ambiente escolar que refere-se ao Rio Iguaçu, além de práticas educacionais respaldadas na Educação Ambiental em prol a esse rio. Reforça-se a necessidade de estudo como este, que possa servir de suporte à educação local e fortalecer aos estudos sobre Educação Ambiental em especial, quanto aos aspectos ambientais referente ao Rio Iguaçu.
