Sheridan's adaptation was for the English stage as performed at the London Theatre Royal of Drury-Lane. The play focuses on Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro's invasion of Peru and the corruption, hardships, and intrigue surrounding his quest. Considered a culturally important work, this edition is being published as a replica of the original 1799 edition and is a must-read for lovers of history and theatre.
