Humane Papillomviren (HPV) sind epitheliotrope Viren, die Haut- oder Schleimhautgewebe infizieren und mit der Entstehung von Läsionen in Verbindung gebracht werden, die im Genitalbereich von Warzen bis zu invasivem Gebärmutterhalskrebs reichen. Es ist bekannt, dass Frauen, die seropositiv für das humane Immundefizienzvirus (HIV) sind, stärker von einer HPV-Infektion betroffen sind und ein höheres Risiko haben, Gebärmutterhalskrebs zu entwickeln. Vor diesem Hintergrund zielte diese Studie darauf ab, die Prävalenz von HPV bei HIV-positiven Frauen abzuschätzen, die im STD/AIDS-Referenzzentrum in der Gemeinde Caxias (MA) betreut werden. Es handelt sich um eine dokumentarische, deskriptiv-explorative und retrospektive Studie mit quantitativem Ansatz, bei der die Daten anhand von Krankenakten und eines vorcodierten und vorab getesteten halbstrukturierten Formulars erhoben wurden.
