Synopsis "Pyrolysis of Municipal Solid Waste"
Pyrolysis is one of the most promising thermal decomposition technology. Pyrolysis converts biomass materials into bio-oil, bio-char and gases in the absence of oxygen. In the present study, Pyrolysis studies Municipal Solid Waste samples were carried out in a fixed bed reactor at different reaction time of 1hr and 2hr using LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and the optimum results were obtained with 1hr of reaction time. The maximum yield is observed at 1hr of reaction time with 48.40wt% of bio-char yield; 5.80wt% of bio-oil yield and 45.80wt% of gas yield. The bio-oil obtained from the pyrolysis consists mainly of Furfural and phenolic compounds which are the main compounds of bio-oil and the obtained bio-oil after upgradation can be used as a fuel. The bio-char obtained during pyrolysis can be used for the soil amendment and gaseous products can be used as a fuel in industries for chimneys.
