With increasing numbers of athletes from across the globe publicly coming out and stating that they are openly part of the queer community, the issue of how to create safe spaces and ensure a fair playing environment for queer athletes has become even more important. Too often, queer youth who wish to participate in athletics find that they are not able to find a place that welcomes them to excel in their sport of choice.
