Synopsis "Reaching for the Dawn: A Collection of Poetry, Prose, and Short Stories Written by a Survivor of Child Sex Abuse"
Reaching for the Dawn is a collection of poetry, prose, and short stories written over the course of decades by a survivor of child sex abuse. Her shame, fears, depression, and the dark secrets she guarded so carefully were expressed in her writing. She also wrote about the times of hope and healing. She is a survivor who became strong overcoming her fears, shame, anger, and sadness with years of therapy. Some of this writing is emotional and dark, but it also shows the courage and self-determination it takes to survive abuse. Hopefully, some people can find a glimpse of hope and inspiration in these writings.Shivering in the dark of night, I prayed for the sunrise, I craved change, I craved survival - I wished for a new day to try again. I reached for the dawn-the end of the cold dark night.
