Synopsis "Revelation of God in Hypostatic Union: Commentary on the Gospel of John - Chapters 1-6"
Jesus Christ is God. He was born on earth in the flesh and though ultimately rejected by His people, Israel, He was and continues to be their Messiah. As in the Synoptic Gospels, His public ministry was introduced by John the Testifier by the preaching of repentance and water baptism. This is the essence of the gospel of the kingdom, which has many things in common with the gospel of the grace of God, but is not the same gospel due to the timing of the crucifixion and resurrection and the intended audience. In the first six chapters of John's gospel, Jesus performs many miraculous signs that point to the legitimacy of His claims to deity. When those who were not His sheep rejected His message, He did not plead with them to reconsider, but instead violated common evangelical protocol by teaching election and predestination. This infuriated the Jewish religious leaders who abused their legal system to murder Him and His followers.
