Die Ätiologie der Fettleibigkeit ist komplex und umfasst genetische, umweltbedingte, kulturelle und sozioökonomische Faktoren. Nach Angaben der Weltgesundheitsorganisation sind 39 % der Frauen im gebärfähigen Alter übergewichtig, was sich unmittelbar auf die Zunahme der Schwangerschaften mit dem Risiko perinataler Morbidität und chronischer nicht übertragbarer Krankheiten auswirkt. Ziel der Studie war es, die soziodemografischen Faktoren und ihre Beziehung zum Body-Mass-Index in einer Population von schwangeren Frauen in einem Referenzgesundheitszentrum in Cali im Zeitraum zwischen November 2018 und Januar 2019 zu charakterisieren.
