Synopsis "Seasons of the Centaur"
SEASONS OF THE CENTAUR has been in the works for over thirty years, though none of the many pieces were intended to be cobbled together and collated into a singular volume. These pieces are sometimes brooding, sometimes reflective, sometimes terse, but always genuine of heart. The poems contained in Seasons are categorized each within the four directions, which allude not only to the seasons themselves, but also to the energies carried by each of the pieces contained therein. This is modeled after Native American Indian cosmologies, which ceremoniously invite the energies of each direction to be present and to avail themselves to aid in transformation. Just as the alchemy of transmuting base metals to gold is a delicate and mysterious business, so are the subtle, yet distinct shiftings of the soul and body through time. It is in this spirit these disparate works should be consumed: sipped, not swallowed; tasted, not devoured.
