Synopsis "Shattered"
What do a concert pianist with a crippled hand, an engineer with adult-onset celiac disease, and a three-legged dog have in common? In Shattered, they're all struggling to come to terms with debilitating conditions that radically change their lives. In this realistic, inspirational novel, each character takes a turn on center stage as he or she confronts a troubling new reality and begins the process of physical and emotional healing. Through an accident of fate, Viktor, the pianist, and Angela, the engineer, end up supporting each other as they grapple with fear, depression, and anger. Meanwhile, Angela must help her dog recover after an accident necessitates amputation of one leg. Over time, Viktor and Angela discover that compassion and friendship can be the best medicine. Will they take it a step beyond, or is a platonic relationship the best cure for what ails them?
