Synopsis "Sins Of The Mother: Not a Bible Story"

The Bible, in Exodus 34: 6-7, deals with the sins and iniquities of the father. Which begs the question: What of the sins of the mother? Sins of the Mother is not a Bible story; it contains adult situations and is therefore recommended for mature readers. The events in the book take place in Huntington and Barboursville, Cabell County, West Virginia. While the story is fictional, many locations mentioned are real. It is the story of Dr. Fred Trainor and his wife Barbara, who return to live in the small West Virginia town where they attended high school. Fred, called Freddy by his friends, agrees to help an old friend, and high school flame, Mary Ann Spencer, resolve an issue from her past in contemplation of her death. Had he known where it would lead, he may have declined to help because of the strain it put on his marriage, not to mention his sanity. It isn't just Freddy's life that gets turned upside, either. The discovery of past deeds leads to mental anguish for individuals that had no idea they were even part of the drama. This book includes a collection of old fraternity friends and the depth of their bond, thirty years after graduation, is still evident. Woven into the plot is a developing twist of events that impacts many of the characters. There are clues throughout and the reader may begin to have an understanding before it is all revealed. J.B. Srodes is a graduate of Barboursville High School and Marshall University and called upon his memories of the times, places, and people living and dead while telling his yarn.
