Synopsis "Social Business and Investment"
Social Business is a cause-driven, business that aims at investing in the rural social resources for alleviation of poverty among the poor rural Communities; to that end, the investors can gradually recover the money invested in the program but cannot take any dividend beyond that point. The objective of social business is to achieve social goals such as Community access to: health care, nutrition for malnourished, education, safe drinking water, green/renewable energy and financial services for the poor. The purpose is purely to achieve one of social objectives through the operation of the company and no personal gains is desired by the investor. While these types of companies are typically established as a Non-profit Organizations, but they compete with for profit businesses that produce similar goods or service on the ground. Social business make profit like any other business, the only deference is that, it help the impoverished rural communities to produce their own quality products, job training to help unemployed acquire employable skills and creates job for chronically unemployed. To that end social business is owned by the rural communities using available local resources.
