The readings in Part I confront stereotypes generally associated with hip hop and provide readers with a greater understanding of the international impact and relevance of hip hop. In Part III, students read about the participation of women and members of the LGBTQ community in hip hop. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska.Keri Eason is a fifth-year doctoral student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cincinnati.Anthony J. Stone, Jr. is a doctoral student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cincinnati, where he serves as assistant editor for Social Problems. He holds an M.A. from The University of Memphis.Kierra N. Toney is a fourth-year doctoral student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Cincinnati. She serves as assistant editor for Social Problems.
