Synopsis "Sovereign Risk: An Amazing Journey"

As a sovereign risk analyst for more than 40 years, Vincent Truglia has had an extraordinary career. He has traveled to over 100 countries, most on multiple occasions. He describes, through anecdotes, how the world has changed in astonishing ways over that time. He has regularly dealt with senior government officials. He has been at the epicenter of many financial crises. He has often been accused of involvement in international conspiracies. He was inside the World Trade Center during the first terrorist attack in 1993. On 9/11, he was working just one block from the World Trade Center. He and his family lived just a short walk from there. He has been the object of countless cartoons, and some amusing stories. One newspaper article's headline read, "What Color Are Vincent Truglia's Eyes?" Some things he writes about have never before been made public. One example includes the instructions large US banks were given by the Federal Reserve to halt the October 1987 Stock Market crash. Mr. Truglia also tells how the Bank of Italy was able to skirt EU rules regarding their use of the "printing press" to fund the Italian government during its crisis. There is also a remarkable story about how the Argentine government turned down a rescue plan proposed by JPMorgan, which might have averted the 2001 financial crisis. His travel anecdotes are fascinating to read. Also, there are many insider views about how Moody's functioned during his tenure there.
