Synopsis "Stalking Horse"
When the Stalker Becomes the StalkedA "stalking horse" can be a ruse, or a muse, as Greg West soon discovers. Greg is a guy with a black Lab named Champ and a plain but comfortable condo. He leads an ordinary, unexciting life, that is, until the fateful morning when he finds his young coworker, Megan, brutally beaten to death in her apartment under very troubling circumstances. Dissatisfied with the routine investigation, Greg decides to find the killer himself, although a grouchy detective makes it abundantly clear that Greg's help is not needed or wanted! Greg doesn't let police opposition stop him, though. Determined to identify the killer who is hiding in plain sight, Greg digs into Megan's family background, talks with her abusive ex-boyfriend, and asks her work team to tell him what they know about her. As the case develops, Greg unexpectedly discovers a new love in his life in Jenna, a nurse who is one of his condo neighbors. As satisfying and lasting as that new relationship feels, chasing murderers isn't without its dangers. Greg and Champ dodge death in one close call, but Greg faces a life-or-death encounter with a man he realizes has been living a double life and intends to make Greg his next victim!
