Synopsis "Sustainable Tourism Development in India"
The main objectives of this book were to examine the economic, social and environmental sustainability of Kerala tourism. This research has provided a rare opportunity to evaluate the sustainability of tourism development in Kerala. The research findings establish that tourism development in Kerala is sustainable and it ensures economic, socio-cultural, and environmental sustainability of destinations. The factor analysis identified five components or factors, which contributes to economic, social and environmental sustainability of tourist destinations. Factors contributing to the sustainability are resource management, resource exploitation, socio-economic sustainability, socio-cultural sustainability and tourism governance. The research findings can also guide the government agencies, tourism operators, hotels and restaurants, and NGOs while formulating and implementing tourism policies.
