The Adventures of James Best follows an immortal being on his search for his missing memories and for the meaning of his existence. The beginning of the book sees our protagonist trying to survive on a post-apocalyptic Earth. When he finds God, God denies creating him, which leads to a search for his creator. He starts learning more about himself during this search and hopes that what he learns is the truth. Although there are different versions of the truth and he has to find out which version is the correct one, as his life depends on it. Will the revelations of the proper truth lead him to a life of happiness or to an epic war with a climactic duel of Greek proportions?
