Synopsis "The Adventurous Journey of Love-From homophobia to being an ally 2nd Edition: (2023)"
(One third of the book is in English. See below) At one summer night in 2017, I thought I wouldn't wake up the next morning. So I wrote a short will. Throughout that process, I discovered I had unfinished business. I must write down this story and tell everybody that I know. I did a solo performance of this true story for 10 shows in 7 cities: Toronto, Harrisonburg, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, and Taipei. Each solo performance was followed by a performance from the local Playback Theatre so the audience can tell their stories and have them immediately enacted on the stage. I called it the "I/We Project." As a Playback Theatre Leadership graduate, I love to honour every authentic story that anyone wants to share. During these traveling performances, I discovered my mother. My mother is my hero. Her courage and determination is my legacy. Without remembering what she did for her nine children, who now are living in freedom in every part of the world, I could not cope with the backlash I have faced from conservative groups when I shared my story. "My Mother is My Hero" - It was first shared with my two daughters on my birthday 2018. 2. "The Adventurous Journey of Love" - The solo performance I had done 10 times in seven cities from 2017 to 2019. This is my authentic story on my transformation from homophobia to being an ally. 3. "Inspiration from Mary" - This is the authentic story of "Mary," the person I interviewed when I was writing my research paper for my Master of Social Work. This is so readers can understand how her story has had an impact on my transformation. My blessings to you all, that you may have the courage to be who you are.
