There are many Gimoires - books of immense knowledge - most dating back centuries. The French officer manages to escape the attack, but is the only survivor. At some point an old Turkish hermit appears suddenly from out of the pyramids and takes the French officer into a secret chamber within one of these ancient structures and nurses him back to health. It is within this hidden chamber that he is presented with the magical teachings from ancient manuscripts that escaped their being burned during the "Ptolemy" dynasty. The grimoire itself contains certain magical properties, such as talismanic rings, amulets and the Black Pullet itself.
