Synopsis "The civil wars in Congo-Brazzaville (1959-2003)"

"Africa today is threatened by deadly conflicts, which are characterized by the internal implosion of states and nations. These words of Mohammed Bedjaoui accurately reflect the chaotic situation in which the African continent lives, caught in a vortex of armed conflicts without equal. This spiral of conflict has not spared the various countries of the continent, including Congo-Brazzaville. Indeed, Congo-Brazzaville is a real theater of bloody events. Already in 1959, when this country was still under the control of the colonial power, a first civil war had broken out. Over a period of forty-four years, from 1959 to 2003, the country experienced five civil wars, in 1959, 1993-1994, 1997, 1998-1999 and 2002-2003 respectively. These repeated fratricidal wars were so violent and horrific in scale that it is good to be reminded of them each time to avoid falling back into them.
