Synopsis "The Glasnost Conspiracy"

Arnie Rosen's wife and children are killed as Charles Van Damme's men break into his home to grab a file proving that Van Damme, chief of the CIA's European Division, is collaborating with the Russians to steal America's top-secret satellite. Bent on silencing him, Van Damme's men catch Arnie but he escapes, only to be placed in a mental institution for killing his family. It is, in reality, a CIA front controlled by Van Damme. Again Rosen escapes after thwarting an assassination attempt and flees to Key West where Fred Marquand, his old CIA mentor, arranges safe passage to Europe. There, Rosen plans to catch Van Damme in the act and clear his name. He and the CIA chief's dupe, Otto Gruhaber, a computer genius unwittingly advancing Van Damme's scheme, head back to New York after escaping Van Damme's trap in Berlin's ancient Spandau Citadel. Arnie's powerful lawyer friend, Mark Hickey, agrees to get them safely to D.C. to thwart Van Damme's confirmation as the new head of his agency, but Hickey's help ends in disaster. After fighting their way through Capitol Security, Van Damme's thugs and the FBI, Rosen, and Gruhaber thwart their enemy in a tense showdown at the hearing. Van Damme attempts a daring escape but is brought down by Rosen under the packed Capitol Rotunda. but, unfortunately, Rosen's heroism may have only accelerated the Glasnost Conspiracy.
