And yet, as we see in this book, God's promises remain true. The beauty, and the victory, and the power of God's holy people that we find in the Scriptures through their faith in Jesus, the Christ, the Son of the living God and their obedience to his Word has been manifest down through the ages and is available to us today!God has always dealt with a remnant, a power plant within what the world may see as "Christianity". That power plant, in a very quiet way is what really moves things! The only thing that has kept the world from absolute corruption and consequent destruction until now is that Glorious Church that the world does not see nor comprehend. When it is taken out, the world will very quickly deteriorate and self-destruct. My examples of what God has done through the church are; the church during the Roman persecution, the church of the Reformation, the church that was instrumental in the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the church in Communist China that multiplied tenfold from the bottom up in the most severe persecution. The church in a prison and the church in a mine are two unusual examples.Our Lord had a great burden to convey to his contemporaries and to us the urgency of being ready for his coming. Especially in the last part of his ministry he used many everyday examples to teach and prepare us. A key verse showing what was on his heart is in Luke 21:36, “Watch you therefore and pray always that you be counted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of Man.” This book is written for those who truly want to be a part of that Glorious Church!
