Synopsis "The God of Time: How God's Foreknowledge Protects Freewill"
The book The God of Time challenges the hermeneutical presuppositions of the theological movement of "open theism." Open theism's basic premise is that God does not know future because the future does not exist to be known.Open theism rests on four a priori and faulty assumptions that lead to the wrong conclusion. First, God's knowledge is limited to the present. God experiences like people, in a linear sequential manner. Second, God's knowledge of the future makes him an accessory to evil and necessarily eliminates human free will. Third, biblical prophecy is not absolute because many prophecies have gone unfulfilled. Fourth, even though the future does not exist God can predetermine future events without knowing how those events will emerge or the consequences that will result from them. The God of Time argues that these four presuppositions, among a few others, are unsustainable within "open view" theology.
