The kingdom of Zahandra is in chaos. A sinister band of witches and wizards have kidnapped the king and queen, leaving eleven-year-old Princess Zaara in desperate need of help. Fortunately Zaara is not alone: she has her protector, the dragon-king Verdas. Guided by Verdas's wisdom and instruction, Zaara and her friends set out to find allies and locate water from a magic stream in the Olympian Mountains. The water, Verdas advises, holds the key to their enemies' defeat. Neither task is likely to be easy. Zaara will have to use all her diplomacy and tact to form an alliance with the suspicious Bestonians, led by Prince Arragon. Her friends Morgan the Giant and Elvin the Elf, meanwhile, will brave the Enchanted Forest to seek help from the Queen of the Fairies.
