Synopsis "The Klondike Detective: Murder on King Solomon's Dome"
It is 1901, in the gold fields of the Yukon Territory where the search for fortunes in these yellow nuggets drive men to kill and cheat. John Caldwell arrives to mine after escaping death in the South African war. He abandons mining to embark on a new plan as security for miners when a thief steals gold from his client. John has a new enemy and had no idea that this was part of a conspiracy to take over the gold fields. He is soon recruited by the North West Mounted Police to pursue the conspirators from King Solomon's Dome into the Alaskan Territory where he helps the American army to catch them. Sometimes John acts without thinking, such as ramming a gold-filled launch, discovering a cadaver in a mine shaft and outraging his superiors. He also encounters shady dealings in the bars and the dancehall's of Dawson City, where he is one step away from death. He encounters Jane Warne, an attractive Pinkerton agent, who is always is one step ahead of him until he rescues her when they were left to die in the wilderness. This accurate historical detective story is both an adventure and murder mystery that brings alive the wonderful characters and lives of that era.
