Synopsis "'the Lydia O'grady'"

Genre: Crime/ Biography. The story centres on a year in the life of Jason Lamont, an unassuming single man, who finds himself suddenly alone and unemployed. Acting on information given to him by an acquaintance, he leaves Texas and heads for Louisiana in search of promised employment. It is here that he first meets Douglas Murphy, who hires him as an undercover operative, working as a deck hand on a 200 foot supply ship named the Lydia O’Grady, which operates out of Cut-Off Louisiana. Now with a legal firearm at his disposal, his self-esteem and confidence soar, which eventually see him embroiled in criminal activities, none of which were initiated by him. After the tragic suicide of Emanuel Hooper, Jason, from necessity, adopts his weatherproof clothes, and from here on, he is constantly being mistaken for the deceased Hooper. As the story unfolds, this ‘taken on’ identity seems to take over his life, the consequences of which are to be life changing.
