Upon his return, he found his father dead and the ranch in trouble. His boyhood nemesis had plotted against his father in order to acquire his property. Jake had gained skills while he was gone that made it very difficult for the two adversaries to succeed. With the help of his two friends he prepared to make it impossible for them to accomplish their goals.
